The Assistant Fitness Manager is responsible for overseeing the Personal Training team, personally conducting introductory workouts with new members, and facilitating their initiation into our gym’s fitness programs. Reporting to the General Manager, the Assistant Fitness Manager will play a crucial role in driving personal training sales, performance of the personal training team and fostering member relationships. This position involves working closely with our membership and personal training team to sell training packages and provide exceptional service to our members. The ideal candidate will demonstrate outstanding leadership and interpersonal abilities, a genuine passion for fitness, a strong motivation to achieve, and a history of delivering measurable results. Position Purpose: Build and lead a cohesive Personal Training (PT) team, ensure they have a healthy pipeline of clients, and that those clients and other members receive exceptional fitness experience. Core Purpose: To create loyal, lifelong fans and exercise practitioners. Responsibilities: Hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising Personal Trainers. Manage the payroll process for personal trainers to ensure team members are paid correctly and in a timely manner. Ensure daily targets are met, particularly during weekends or when the General Manager is not present, by leading the team and driving sales initiatives. Achieve sales targets month-over-month, driving membership growth, and ensuring the team meets or exceeds set goals for new personal training agreements, client retention, and overall revenue generation. Effectively communicate goals, expectations, and procedures to the other department leaders and staff members, ensuring everyone understands their roles and responsibilities. Ensure all fitness staff have appropriate certifications and training such as CPR, First Aid, personal trainer certifications. Provide constructive feedback to personal trainers on their performance, using clear and specific language to highlight areas of strength and areas for improvement. Ensuring high-quality customer service by addressing member concerns or complaints, managing membership inquiries, and resolving issues promptly. Conduct personalized welcome workouts for new members to evaluate their fitness needs and goals. Guide new members through their initial club experience, fostering a positive, supportive environment that promotes personal training sales, member retention and engagement. Effectively communicate goals, expectations, and procedures to staff members, ensuring everyone understands their roles and responsibilities. Supervise the maintenance and cleanliness of the facility, including equipment, locker rooms, and common areas. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining proper certifications, and implementing safety protocols. Qualifications: 2 years of management experience; fitness/personal training management is a plus! 2-3 years of customer service experience. 1 year of sales experience. 1 year of supervisory experience. Personal Training sales experience is highly preferred. Prior experience or strong interest in the fitness industry. Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing, for interacting with members, personal training clients, employees, management, and vendors. Excellent relationship building and influencing skills with people at all levels and in all functions. Strong detail orientation; systematic and thorough approach to problem solving; and good time management, organizational, and record-keeping skills. Excellent MS Office skills. Prior experience or strong interest in the fitness industry is a plus. And, of course, someone who embraces our Core Values! Requirements: Must be available to work nights and weekends. Must successfully pass background check. Must have a valid Personal Training certification CPR certification required within 30 days of hire. Ability to work in a gym setting; move about club floors and rooms; communicate with employees, members, and the public Ability to bend routinely and repetitively to lift more than 40 lbs.
