The Green Mountain Inn, a historic, year-round resort located in the heart of Stowe, is seeking a dedicated, professional, and dynamic Assistant Food and Beverage Manager to support operations at The Whip Bar & Grill, 18 Main Street, and a variety of on-site private events.

Position Summary
Reporting directly to the Food and Beverage Manager, the Assistant Food and Beverage Manager is responsible for supporting daily front-of-house operations and ensuring a consistent, high-quality guest experience across all service areas. This role requires a hands-on approach, the ability to adapt quickly to shifting priorities, and a polished, business casual appearance that reflects the standards of our establishment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in leading FOH operations and serve as acting manager in the absence of the F&B Manager
  • Step into any front-of-house role as needed (host, server, busser, or bartender)
  • Oversee and optimize reservation software to manage guest flow and seating efficiency
  • Support staffing needs by covering or picking up shifts as required
  • Coordinate and execute food and beverage service for private events and special functions
  • Ensure exceptional service and uphold the highest standards of hospitality
  • Maintain a respectful work environment at all times
  • Handle confidential information with discretion
  • Adhere to clearly defined roles and reporting lines; report directly to the F&B Manager
  • Observe and enforce appropriate workplace boundaries, fostering professional camaraderie

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of supervisory experience in a hospitality or restaurant setting (required)
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm, focused, and solution-oriented under pressure
  • Energetic, team-oriented, and capable of shifting gears rapidly in response to evolving needs
  • Professional appearance and compliance with strict business casual dress standards
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and as needed for shift coverage
  • Familiarity with reservation platforms and front-of-house systems
  • Vermont DLC Certification preferred
  • High level of emotional intelligence, resilience, and accountability
