We are seeking an Assistant Director of Dietary Services to join our team. In this dynamic role the individual will be responsible for working closely with the Director of food service to manage the dining service operation at a skilled nursing facility while ensuring to uphold our core values.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Culinary degree
  • Certificate in food service supervision and Serve Safe Certification
  • Prefer additional certification in restaurant sanitation.
  • At least 2 years of progressively responsible work experience in the senior living industry or related high-volume, high-end food service environment.
  • Ability to work with the elderly in a courteous and friendly manner, demonstrating patience and compassion.
  • Knowledge of the principles of dietetics, food service, and sanitation.

Responsibilities
  • Daily meetings with cooks- ensure that all cooks are informed of their responsibilities and expectations, go over meal prep and planning.
  • Conducts daily inventory and places food orders
  • Creates weekly prep list for cooks.
  • Print production sheets 1 day prior to service date (check that there are no mistakes prior to distributing)
  • Daily kitchen audits- ensure high standard of sanitation, cleanliness, and safety are maintained at all times throughout the kitchen.
  • Establish and maintain a regular cleaning and maintenance schedule for all kitchen areas and equipment.
  • Motivate, coach, and train kitchen staff when appropriate.
  • Responsible for approval of all prepared foods that leave the kitchenConsult with Food Service Director (FSD) about food production aspects of special events being planned.
  • Directly supervises the cooking of items that require special skillful preparation.
  • Assists in maintaining a high level of service principles, in conjunction with the management team, in accordance with established standards.
  • Financially accountable for the dining services department. Operates the department in accordance with the approved budget.
