SUMMARY

The Assistant Gas Division Manager is responsible for working with the Gas Division Manager to oversee and manage all gas line operations related to the company’s projects. This includes supervising and scheduling gas foremen & crews and ensuring that production, budgets & schedules are met. Additionally, this role is responsible for ensuring that gas operations adhere to the company’s safety, quality, and environmental standards.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED

  • A minimum of 8+ years’ of management experience in the heavy construction industry.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate, direct, and evaluate a team.
  • Must have knowledge of proper trenching procedures (sloping, benching, trench/manhole boxes, shoring, etc.) & meet the OSHA & TOSHA requirements.
  • Must pass industry PHMSHA drug & alcohol tests as required.
  • The ability to recognize and understand different soil classifications (A, B & C)
  • The ability to safely understand deep excavations, confined space, dewatering & bypass pumping.
  • Be capable of calculating elevations, percentages, setting pipe grades using transit, pipe laser and level to ensure proper plan elevation, slopes & specifications are followed.
  • Knowledge of testing procedures to ensure that state, local and commercial requirements, and specifications are followed.
  • Understanding and implementation of State & Local traffic control requirements.
  • Experience with electronic field reporting software.
  • Must pass all company and other required drug and alcohol tests.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
    Must be able to speak, read and write fluently in English
Responsibilities
  • Oversee all phases of gas installation & construction including excavation and installation of natural gas infrastructure and ensures activities are performed safely, on schedule, and in compliance with project requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Responsible for strategically assigning gas foreman to projects & ensuring projects are appropriately staffed.
  • Assists with performing take offs, estimating, billing & negotiating contracts as needed.
  • Monitors daily crew progress, production, labor and equipment costs to ensure estimates & budgets are met.
  • Reviews project specific gas utility plans & schedules to identify potential delays and proactively implement strategies to avoid setbacks.
  • Responsible for interviewing & hiring gas foreman and ensuring crews are properly trained & staffed. Includes monitoring crew size, classifications & rate of pay.
  • Conducts at a minimum, weekly site visits to each assigned project to ensure the safe, effective, and efficient installation of gas line & infrastructure systems.
  • Provides leadership, guidance & supports the gas foreman ensuring that all work is completed in strict compliance with project specifications, municipal codes, safety regulations & industry standards.
  • Responsible for accountability, corrective & disciplinary action of gas foreman & personnel, including termination when necessary.
  • Ensures field & operator requirements & qualifications are current to allow for gas installation.
  • Assists with reviewing daily electronic reporting of timecards, diaries, jobsite photos, quantities, safety observations & JHA’s submitted by gas foreman.
  • Maintains clear and direct communication with Foreman, Superintendents, Project Managers, Clients, & Office Staff.
  • Attend pre, exit & post job review meetings as well as onsite job progress meetings as needed.
  • Ensure the proper use of safety equipment, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), shoring, and fall protection, by all field personnel.
