Description
The successful candidate in this Senior Director level position will join the team responsible for managing the risk of litigation to the Enterprise. The candidate will handle various types of lawsuits and other disputes involving GuideWell, its subsidiaries and affiliates. The candidate will also provide legal advice and counsel to all levels of leadership. Key Responsibilities: • Handle disputes, including lawsuits, demands for arbitration, government investigations and prelitigation matters, brought against or on behalf of GuideWell, its subsidiaries and affiliates. • Manage outside counsel retained to defend or prosecute litigation on behalf of the organization, within budgetary parameters. • Provide strategic advice and counsel to the organization’s business areas regarding a wide range of legal matters. • Act as legal contact for external stakeholders. • Review and/or draft legal documents. • Manage complex legal matters or projects with minimal supervision. • May also be asked to assume additional responsibilities of the litigation management team. Key Requirements: • Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school with a strong academic record and 10+ years of professional experience. • Admission to at least one state bar. If bar admission is in a state other than Florida, then the ability to be certified in Florida as Authorized House Counsel. • Significant litigation experience, with management of a diverse and sizable caseload. • General knowledge of health insurance laws, regulations and compliance standards. • General knowledge of corporate and commercial law. • Demonstrated experience developing legal strategies. • Experience managing litigation personnel or comparable teams. • Demonstrated leadership and team building skills. • Excellent written and verbal presentation skills. • Demonstrated initiative and self-starter. • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate effectively and develop and maintain strong interpersonal relationships at all levels of an organization. • Ability to thrive in an uncertain and ambiguous environment.
