Job Description
VISA REQUIREMENTS:

Responsibilities:
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
- Report to the General Manager of Notch8, positioning the restaurant as a top dining destination in Vancouver’s downtown area
- Collaborate with the Executive Restaurant Chef to ensure smooth operations for both the Front and Heart of House
- Provide consistent floor presence to support and lead the team in delivering service excellence
- Motivate, coach, and monitor team performance
- Uphold high standards of customer service and hold the team accountable
- Drive revenue and profit through strategic development, promotions, and maintaining the integrity of the overall concept
- Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, adhering to established guidelines for labor, revenue, and expenses
- Train and develop new and existing team members
- Work closely with Culinary & Stewarding teams to ensure food quality exceeds guest expectations and promote a collaborative service culture
- Create and maintain staffing schedules to meet guest and business needs, following the Collective Agreement
- Monitor and enhance Food & Beverage controls
- Generate innovative ideas and promotions to maximize revenue
- Foster high colleague engagement, performance, and team spirit in a positive work environment
- Manage the online reputation by responding professionally and addressing concerns promptly
- Address guest complaints with follow-up actions, including training resolutions and performance management
- Develop and implement effective recruitment and retention strategies
- Understand and apply the Collective Agreement within the department and hotel
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure efficient hotel operations
- Participate in the Vancouver restaurant community
- Support Fairmont Hotel Vancouver’s Sustainability Program (Planet 21) and champion department-specific initiatives
- Participate in the hotel’s recognition, service excellence, health & safety, and diversity & inclusion committees
- Ensure safety and sanitation compliance for both Front and Heart of House operations per provincial health regulations and EcoSure standards
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
Qualifications
TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE WE ASK THAT YOU HAVE:
- Minimum 2 years of management experience in an upscale food & beverage setting
- A deep passion for food & beverage, and familiarity with current trends in the industry
- Proven ability to drive revenue and manage budgets effectively
- Proficiency in point-of-sale systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, with a strong commitment to the role
- Demonstrated ability to focus on guest needs while remaining calm and professional under pressure
- Strong communication skills, ability to build relationships, and work cohesively within a team
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods, lift up to 30 lbs. and manage physical tasks such as kneeling, pushing, and climbing stairs
