Job Description Join our Kalgoorlie team as an Assistant Geotechnician, where you will perform testing of construction materials through destructive and non-destructive testing techniques, while providing a safe, efficient and high quality testing service to our clients. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include: Assisting with the initial preparation of samples for testing Performing routine testing including compactions, moisture content, plasticity index, particle size distribution, field nuclear densometer readings, and concrete and aggregate testing Collecting, logging and initial preparation of samples Weighing, sieving, compacting and wetting samples and recording basic data Performing routine calibration and setup of equipment Carrying out routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment and working areas Ensuring safe working practices are followed at all times Correlating test data for evaluation by a higher classified person Preparing basic reports Contributing to team discussions on continuous improvement and laboratory efficiency Complying with the SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct at all times Qualifications Certificate III in Laboratory Techniques (desirable) Previous experience working within a laboratory environment (desirable) WA C Class Drivers Licence (desirable) Good communication and interpersonal skills Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions Good grasp of numbering and ordering Ability to retain information and work under limited supervision A commitment to safe work practices and team collaboration Additional Information COME TO WORK AND BE 100% YOU SGS Australia supports a diverse workforce, we encourage applications from people of all ages, nationalities, abilities, and cultures – including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, the LGBTQI+ community and people living with disability.
