Responsibilities

PURPOSE OF ROLE

Southend United is seeking an assistant groundsperson, to assist with preparing and maintaining the pitches at Roots Hall Stadium and Fossetts Training Facility in line with industry standards.
This role is key to ensuring the club’s professional players have the best surfaces possible in training and matches.

KEY TASKS

  • Assist the Head Groundsman in the preparation, presentation and maintenance of all playing surfaces and football pitches at both sites
  • Ensure all areas are maintained and kept to industry standards
  • Undertake all grounds management duties including but not limited to cutting, mowing, line marking, aerating, devoting, spraying, fertiliser and sand application, strimming and rotary mowing
  • Undertake general grounds maintenance tasks
  • Keep surrounding areas and ground storage areas, etc. tidy
  • Wear any personal protective equipment provided, and comply with all Health and Safety guidelines, working in a manner not to cause injury or harm to yourself or anyone else, or the property of the club
