Your Opportunity:
Under the direction of the acute care manager, the CRN works in concert with the Clinical Nurse Educators (CNE), AHN and/or charge nurse to support staff in developing proficiency in all facets of rural nursing thereby optimizing team function. The CRN utilizes highly-developed clinical, organizational and leadership skills while problem-solving and promoting excellence in nursing practice in programmatic areas such as Obstetrics, Emergency, Medicine, Surgery. This role works with the Innisfail Health Centre Acute Care serving as a resource, role model, educator, mentor and coach in developing staff abilities of leadership, clinical decision making, team function. The CRN also provides expertise and leadership in the development and implementation of local of clinical guidelines and protocols; promotes the use of evidence; provides expert support and consultation and; facilitates program changes under the direction of the acute care manager. The CRN role provides leadership to support high-quality practice environments that ensure safety for patients and program effectiveness. The CRN utilizes expertise in project management, administrative and organizational skills and research in leading new clinical initiatives, maintaining standards, facilitating audits, coordinating orientation of new staff and tracking developmental and educational goals of staff. With a systems-based mindset, they will assist leading and facilitating team function in various initiatives and clinical working groups with physicians and other members of the multi-disciplinary team, promoting the use of evidence, provide expert support and consultation, and expert facilitation of program direction, and effective change management processes and frameworks.

As an Assistant Head Nurse, you will be responsible for staff assignments, patient flow and acting as a role model, clinical resource and advocate for nursing staff. In addition to providing frontline nursing care, as required, you will take a leadership role in the promotion of quality patient care and the implementation of operational priorities. Your in-depth knowledge and skills, advanced judgment and clinical experience, will assist in providing solutions for complex health care issues at all levels with patients, interprofessional teams, administrators and policy makers. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
