Description Purpose: The Assistant Horticulturalist/Account Manager works directly with the Account Manager (AM) to support the business goals of McHale Landscape Design through the successful management of landscape installs and maintenance for new and existing clients. In this role, you will be working directly with the AM to support the following responsibilities: creating and managing the execution of work plans including coordinating schedules, budget, staffing, training, oversight of crews, and monitoring work to ensure a quality deliverable that exceeds client expectations. Through the training process, you gain the skillset needed to deliver superior customer service and sales, effective estimating and budgeting, knowledge of landscape design and maintenance, and management of field crews. Essential Functions The following essential functions require strong administrative skills, keen attention to detail, and superior reliability. You will be training with direct supervisor in order master the below essential function: Sales & Service: Successfully develops client relationships, with new and existing clients, through regular and ongoing contact to help their design vision come to life. Accurately define projects according to the clients needs, effectively present options to the client, and ultimately obtain a signed contract that will be delivered on-time and within budget. Nurture client relationships to ensure repeat business and ongoing maintenance. Estimating & Contracts: Effectively scope and estimate projects to ensure competitive pricing, available resources, and profitability. Develop and present contracts for new projects and annual maintenance. Create and manage work plans to ensure adequate staffing, material availability, and successful completion. Field oversight: Provide supervision, training, and management in the field to Foreman and field crews responsible for mowing, detailing, seasonal and small-scale plant installation, and pruning and perennial care. Routinely visits projects in process to monitor progress and quality control. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing systems. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms, bend, and lift items up to 30 pounds. Significant time will be spent on a computer, driving, and walking job sites. Travel Local travel is expected for this position. Required Education and Experience Landscape industry Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. 5 or more years of relevant experience within the landscape industry. Residential landscape account management experience preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
