Job Title – Assistant Hospitality Manager

Position Summary
We are looking to hire a dynamic Assistant Hospitality Manager to join our Team at Cedar Cove Ranch (www.CedarCoveRanch.com). In this guest-facing role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for guests participating in fishing, hog hunting, and various ranch activities. Your duties will include leading and coordinating activities such as 5 stand clay shooting, tactical range sessions, and ranch safari tours, while ensuring exceptional guest experiences and safety standards.
Important Note: This position involves coordinating and leading activities but does not include conducting hunts of animals. You will facilitate hog hunting experiences but will not be responsible for the actual hunting operations.
If you do not have previous experience working at a ranch, resort, or in outdoor recreation activities, you may not be the right fit for this position. To ensure success in this role, you should have hands-on experience with outdoor activities, exceptional guest service skills, and the ability to lead groups safely and confidently.

Key Responsibilities: Hospitality Operations

  • Assist with guest reservations, check-ins, and check-outs
  • Coordinate with housekeeping, guest services, F&B, hunting operations, and maintenance teams
  • Support & lead event planning for corporate retreats, family gatherings, and group bookings
  • Lead corporate events and team building exercises
  • Maintain high standards for all guest areas and activity venues
  • Conduct inventories of activity supplies and equipment
  • Monitor guest satisfaction and gather feedback for continuous improvement

Guest Experience & Activity Leadership

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for guests during their stay, ensuring exceptional service from arrival to departure
  • Lead and coordinate outdoor activities including:
  • 5 stand clay shooting instruction and supervision
  • Tactical range sessions and safety protocols
  • Ranch safari tours and wildlife observation
  • Fishing expeditions and guidance
  • Hog hunting coordination (logistics and safety, not conducting hunts)
  • Conduct thorough safety briefings and ensure all participants understand and follow safety protocols
  • Provide instruction and guidance to guests of varying skill levels in outdoor activities
  • Maintain and inspect all activity equipment for safety and functionality
  • Address and resolve guest inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally
  • Plan and coordinate special events and group activities to enhance the guest experience

Administrative & Team Collaboration

  • Maintain accurate records of guest activities and equipment usage
  • Assist with staff training on guest service standards and safety protocols
  • Support marketing events and promotional activities as needed
  • Collaborate effectively with ranch staff to ensure seamless operations

Required Competencies & Skills

  • Outdoor Activity Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading groups in outdoor recreational activities
  • Firearms Safety & Instruction: Knowledge of firearm safety protocols and ability to instruct guests safely
  • Fishing Expertise: Practical fishing knowledge and ability to guide guests of various skill levels
  • Clay Shooting Experience: Familiarity with clay shooting sports and safety procedures
  • Guest Service Excellence: Strong interpersonal skills with ability to resolve conflicts professionally
  • Safety Leadership: Commitment to maintaining highest safety standards in all activities
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Physical Fitness: Ability to participate in and lead physically demanding outdoor activities
  • Technology Proficiency: Microsoft Excel, Word, Microsoft Teams, Google Calendar.
  • Problem-Solving: Quick thinking and adaptability in outdoor environments

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, recreation, outdoor education, or related field preferred; relevant experience may substitute for degree
  • Experience: At least 3 years of experience in hospitality, outdoor recreation, or guest services
  • Outdoor Activities: Demonstrated experience with shooting sports, fishing, and outdoor recreation
  • Ranch/Resort Experience: Previous experience at a ranch, resort, or outdoor recreation facility strongly preferred
  • Certifications: First Aid/CPR certification preferred; firearms safety certification a plus

Specialized Knowledge & Experience (Highly Valued)

  • Fishing guide experience or extensive recreational fishing background
  • Clay shooting sports participation or instruction experience
  • Tactical shooting or range safety officer experience
  • Hog hunting logistics and safety knowledge (coordination, not conducting hunts)
  • ATV/UTV operation for ranch tours
  • Wildlife identification and outdoor education a plus
  • Group leadership and team-building experience

Other Requirements

  • Position may require travel – up to 10-15% (for conventions, shows, business meetings)
  • Occasional in-person meetings in McKinney TX with leadership team (once a month on average)
  • Flexibility to work weekends and holidays during peak guest seasons
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
