  • CIPD qualified, or working towards this, with relevant HR experience in a complex organisation.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Proven track record of delivering clear, balanced HR advice and guidance.
  • Experience of working with senior managers on complex HR issues.
  • Strong casework management experience across disciplinary, grievance, attendance, performance, and wellbeing matters.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of employment law and HR policy application.
  • Strong employee relations experience and ability to engage with trade unions.
Responsibilities

WHAT’S INVOLVED WITH THIS ROLE:

The Assistant HR Business Partner (AHRBP) will provide professional HR support to managers, staff, and the HR Operations team. The post holder will act as a trusted advisor, supporting managers to resolve people-related issues, build capability, and deliver corporate and local objectives. This includes providing expert advice on policies, casework, and employment law while developing strong working relationships across the organisation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide advice and guidance to managers and staff on HR policies, procedures, and employment law.
  • Support and coach managers in resolving people issues (e.g. disciplinary, grievance, performance, wellbeing).
  • Build effective working relationships with managers, employees, and trade union representatives to resolve issues constructively.
  • Screen vacancies and support redeployment by identifying suitable opportunities for employees.
  • Undertake job evaluations, ensuring fair, consistent, and objective assessments.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of HR policies, procedures, and employment legislation.
