Your role at St John of God Midland Hospital You will provide essential support to Registered Nurses and Midwives in delivering safe, effective, and patient-centred care within our Outpatients Department. Working under supervision, the AIN assists with daily patient activities, including personal care, mobility, and comfort, while ensuring dignity, privacy, and respect always. This role involves monitoring and reporting changes in patient conditions, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and adhering to infection control, safety, and organisational policies. The AIN collaborates with the multidisciplinary team to support care delivery and contribute to positive patient outcomes. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively within a team are essential. The AIN must demonstrate compassion, reliability, and a commitment to continuous learning and high standards of care in a fast-paced healthcare environment. The Position Work within AIN scope of practice under RN supervision Assist with the setting up of items for clinics Assist with patient care using a patient-centred approach Monitor, observe, and promptly report changes in patient condition Respond to patient needs and call bells in a timely manner Perform safe manual handling and maintain a clean, safe environment Adhere to infection control, food hygiene, and safety regulations Maintain patient confidentiality, dignity, and privacy Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team Participate in teamwork, meetings, and support a positive team environment Escalate concerns, complaints, and workplace issues appropriately Follow emergency procedures and directions from senior staff The Position Requirements You will have active enrolment in and successful completion of at least 12 months of an NMBA-approved Bachelor of Nursing and/or Midwifery or Diploma of Nursing program, or completion of the nationally recognised Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (Assisting in Nursing Work in Acute Care) HLT33115 or equivalent. To succeed you will demonstrate well-developed verbal and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities. You will possess effective planning, prioritisation, and organisational skills to support the delivery of high-quality care. Previous experience working in an outpatient department or within an acute healthcare setting will be highly regarded.
