Description LOCATION: Wayne County Health Department - Wayne, 48184 POSITION SUMMARY: SEMHA is seeking an Infant Safe Sleep Program Assistant to work at Wayne County Health Department located in the city of Wayne. This role will be is responsible for assisting the Wayne County Infant Safe Sleep (ISS) Coordinator by providing administrative support in office and in the field, coordinating program activities and ensuring efficient operation of the overall program. This role will maintain records appropriately, client confidentiality, and work collaboratively within the ISS program and other community projects. The ideal candidate will mostly work in an office setting but may also travel for events or meetings. The role may involve collaboration with various teams and departments within the organization. The ideal candidate will complete all training requests/requirements in a timely manner. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Perform duties that may include) Maintain confidential protected information according to Department policy and procedure. Assist in the planning and implementation of programs by managing schedules, organizing meetings, and maintaining records. Serve as a liaison between program participants and management, ensuring effective communication and support. Assist with organizing and coordinating events and activities related to the program including ordering supplies. Collect data related to program performance, maintaining accurate records and reports. Provide direct assistance to program participants, as directed, helping them navigate program resources and activities. Assist with designing educational materials for participants utilizing the principles of cultural humility, as requested. Make referrals for program participants and create any follow-up lists, as requested. Document all activities, follow-up activities appropriately, and complete reports assigned in a timely manner. Participates in emergency preparedness activities. Perform other duties as assigned. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: (Items needed to start and/or keep position) Effective communication skills and ability to accept responsibility for carrying out required tasks. Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation (required). Ability to work anywhere from 40; 32; 24 hours/week on a flexible schedule. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A high school diploma or equivalent is required An associate degree in a related field is preferred. Candidate must have six months to one year of documented experience in providing program support services. Bilingual in English, Arabic or Spanish is preferred; but not required. JOB PREREQUISITES: (candidate has) Skill in computers and software programs including Microsoft Word, Excel and Access. Knowledge of the Internet and the use of Web forms and Web based programs. Skilled in filing and maintaining office records. Ability to follow oral and written instructions and learn assigned new tasks. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibility for completing and maintaining written and electronic reports and deadlines. Responsibility of knowing how to use office equipment, including computers, printers and scanners. Physical demands include lifting to 15 lbs., bending, walking, stairs, talking, and possible overnight travel.
