The Shearwater Hotel & Spa is a 4-star hotel located in Ballinasloe Galway, offering top-class leisure and wellness facilities. Our Leisure Centre features a swimming pool, fully equipped gym, sauna, steam room, and treatment rooms, providing a first-class wellness experience to our guests and members.
We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Assistant Leisure Centre Manager to join our team and help deliver outstanding customer service while supporting the day-to-day operations of the centre.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a supervisory or assistant management role within a leisure, fitness, or hospitality environment.
  • Pool Lifeguard qualification (e.g., RLSS or equivalent) - essential
  • Pool Plant Operator Certificate - desirable
  • First Aid and CPR certification - essential
  • Strong knowledge of health & safety and swimming pool operations in line with Irish standards.
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and organisational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and leisure management systems
  • A passion for health, fitness, and wellness.
  • Flexible approach to working hours, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Leisure Centre Manager in the daily management and smooth operation of the leisure facilities.
  • Lead by example in delivering exceptional customer service to hotel guests and members.
  • Supervise and support leisure centre staff, including lifeguards, fitness instructors, and receptionists.
  • Ensure that all health & safety, hygiene, and pool plant procedures are strictly adhered to in line with Irish legislation and hotel policies.
  • Contribute to staff training, rotas, performance reviews, and development.
  • Assist in managing memberships, including sales, renewals, and member engagement.
  • Oversee cleanliness, maintenance, and presentation of the leisure centre, including the swimming pool, gym, and changing areas.
  • Support the planning and promotion of fitness classes, wellness programmes, and special events.
  • Monitor and report on facility usage, customer feedback, and operational performance.
  • Act as the Duty Manager of the Leisure Centre in the absence of the Leisure Centre Manager.
