Description:
Abraham Joshua Heschel School is seeking a full-time assistant librarian to support the middle school and high school departments.
Abraham Joshua Heschel School, located in New York City, is an independent, pluralistic Jewish Day School, N-12, unaffiliated with any single movement or synagogue. Responsibilities include:
Supervising middle and high school students across two library spaces
Covering, repairing, and shelving books and cataloging new books
Helping to weed outdated materials
Circulating books using OPALS software
The ideal candidate will:
Demonstrate a love of books and reading
Enjoy working with young people in small group and one-on-one settings
Support student research, by guiding students in using research databases and answering drop-in reference questions
Help create displays, bulletin boards, and other readers advisory
Knowledge of Hebrew and/or Judaica topics preferred
This can be an ideal position for someone pursuing their MLS or interested in gaining experience in school librarianship.
