We are seeking to appoint a motivated and imaginative leader who will oversee the overall management of our 2-3s Unit, leading and supporting a team of well qualified staff.
The successful applicant will also work under the direction of the Nursery/Forest School Manager and will also be a member of the Nursery Senior Management Team and as such, there will be an allocated a number of identified Nursery-wide responsibilities. Working hours for this role are 40 per week, Monday-Friday.
The Nursery draws heavily upon Scandinavian influences in its philosophy and practice, building upon both proprietor’s experience of living and working in Denmark. We also have our own Forest School in a secure, offsite, nine-acre field, which children begin to access from two and a half years old. Our onsite Outdoor Learning Area is an integral part of our development. The successful applicant will play an important role in developing this area, working with the team to provide a safe and stimulating space for children to play, learn and develop.
The successful applicant will lead a well-qualified team of staff within the Unit and will be responsible for ensuring that the EYFS underpins all its work, therefore, an excellent working knowledge of the EYFS framework is essential. As Unit Manager, you would be expected to work alongside the Quality Assurance Lead evaluate the quality of care and education provided on an ongoing basis, implementing improvements and innovations as necessary.
You will possess excellent communication skills both written and verbal, be able to deal with complex situations and work together with external agencies.
We have 35 children in our 2-3s room with dedicated space to have a group outdoors at all times and also work in smaller groups throughout the day. The successful applicant will work closely with the team leaders to ensure the smooth day to day operation of the Unit. They will liaise with new families who are joining the nursery by undertaking home visits and arranging regular settling in sessions to support their transition into the Nursery.
As the successful applicant would be responsible for leading a staff team with a wide range of qualifications and experience, a relevant degree level qualification would be advantageous. However, we are willing to consider applicants with a relevant Level 3 qualification and an appropriate level of experience.
