QUALIFICATIONS & COMPÉTENCES

  • Minimum 3 ans d’expérience en gestion de bar ou en tant que barman senior dans un environnement haut de gamme et à grand volume.
  • Expertise avérée en mixologie, vins et spiritueux (certification WSET ou équivalent est un atout).
  • Leadership et communication exemplaires en français et anglais.
  • Maîtrise de la gestion des inventaires, relations fournisseurs et contrôle des coûts.
  • Capacité à performer dans un environnement rapide tout en maintenant des standards élevés.
  • Connaissance des normes MAPAQ et CNESST.
  • Permis de travail valide et résidence au Québec (obligatoire).
  • Flexibilité horaire : soirs, fins de semaine et jours fériés.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Assistant Manager & Bar Manager plays a dual role: leading the bar program and supporting overall restaurant operations. This position requires a highly organized, hands-on leader who can execute a refined beverage program, deliver exceptional guest experiences, maintain operational excellence, and support the management team in day-to-day service.

Key ResponsibilitiesBar Program & Beverage Operations

  • Oversee all bar operations, ensuring quality, consistency, and presentation meet high-end standards.
  • Curate and update wine, spirits, and cocktail menus to reflect seasonal changes and brand concepts.
  • Design innovative mixology recipes tailored to the venue’s theme and clientele.
  • Manage daily bar inventories, control usage, prevent loss, and optimize cost of goods.
  • Place and track orders for wine, spirits, beer, and beverages with suppliers.
  • Ensure proper stock rotation, storage, and bar equipment maintenance.
  • Implement portion control and waste reduction practices.

Staff Leadership & Training

  • Train bartenders, servers, and barbacks on products, mixology techniques, and service standards.
  • Conduct ongoing refresher and upselling training sessions.
  • Supervise bar staff during service, ensuring efficiency, consistency, and guest engagement.

Service Management

  • Work hands-on behind the bar during service, preparing and serving cocktails.
  • Assist with front-of-house management during peak hours.
  • Resolve guest concerns quickly and professionally.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager on shift changes, floor supervision, and events.

Cleanliness, Hygiene & Compliance

  • Uphold hygiene and sanitation standards across all bar and lounge areas.
  • Ensure compliance with MAPAQ and CNESST regulations.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of tools, equipment, and glassware.
  • Perform and monitor daily and weekly cleaning routines.

Administrative & Operational Support

  • Assist with scheduling, payroll, and staff performance reviews.
  • Monitor and analyze beverage sales to implement revenue and margin growth strategies.
  • Contribute to event planning, seasonal promotions, and private functions.
  • Enforce company policies, workplace discipline, and safety standards.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • 3+ years of bar management or senior bartending experience in a high-end, high-volume setting.
  • Advanced expertise in mixology, wine, and spirits; WSET or equivalent certification an asset.
  • Strong leadership and bilingual communication skills (English & French).
  • Knowledge of inventory control, supplier management, and cost control.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment.
  • Understanding of Québec’s MAPAQ and CNESST regulations.
  • Must reside in Québec with a valid work permit (mandatory).
  • Flexible schedule — evenings, weekends, and holidays required.
