Description

JOIN THE LA REINE CAFÉ TEAM – ASSISTANT MANAGER WANTED!

Bourton-on-the-Water
La Reine Café is a local gem in the heart of Bourton-on-the-Water, celebrated for our homemade cakes, freshly baked bread, and high-quality sandwiches. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional food and warm hospitality in one of the Cotswolds’ busiest and most picturesque villages — and we’re looking for an Assistant Manager who shares our passion for great service and genuine care.
An Exciting Time to Join
We’re relaunching the business this November, with fresh energy, new ideas, and an even bigger focus on quality and customer experience. This is the perfect time to get involved, bring your skills to the table, and help shape the next chapter of La Reine Café.
About the Role
As Assistant Manager, you’ll play a key role in supporting the day-to-day running of the café. You’ll lead shifts, motivate the team, and ensure everything runs smoothly, while also rolling up your sleeves and getting stuck in. From keeping service standards high during the busy lunch rush to helping with stock management and customer service, you’ll be central to both our guests’ experience and our team’s success.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead shifts, ensuring smooth service and excellent customer experience.
  • Support with staff training, motivation, and rota planning.
  • Assist with stock control, ordering, and deliveries.
  • Oversee cash handling and daily takings when required.
  • Jump in where needed — whether serving at the counter, making coffees, or helping with prep.
  • Maintain our high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and compliance.
  • Act as a positive role model, fostering teamwork and a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Contribute ideas and energy as we relaunch and grow.

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience in hospitality or customer service, ideally in a supervisory role.
  • A hands-on leader with great communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to stay calm and focused under pressure, especially at peak times.
  • A positive, proactive approach — willing to learn and share knowledge.
  • Flexible availability, including weekends.
  • A genuine passion for food, people, and great service.

What We Offer

  • Work-life balance – we close at 16:00, so you’ll rarely finish later than 16:30.
  • Competitive salary with opportunities to grow as we expand.
  • Private healthcare for you and your dependants.
  • Staff discounts at La Reine Café and at Oli Bonny Pizza.
  • Possibility of accommodation, ideal if you’re relocating to the Cotswolds.
  • A chance to be part of an exciting relaunch and growth journey.
  • A friendly, supportive team in a thriving café at the heart of the Cotswolds.

If you love hospitality, have a natural flair for leadership, and want to help shape the future of La Reine Café — we’d love to hear from you.
Apply today by dropping your CV in person at La Reine Café or by emailing lareine.treats@gmail.com.
