The Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine (VIFM) provides world-leading independent forensic medical and scientific expertise to the justice system, tissue for transplantation and conducts teaching and research in forensic medicine and science.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES

  • Minimum of 2 years’ medical workforce experience at management level.
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of the Medical Practitioners Award, EBAs and entitlements.
  • Proven track record in credentialing of medical staff.
  • Experience coordinating rosters for medical and/or nursing staff, including leave management.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to deliver high levels of customer service.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as cooperatively with peers and other senior staff.
  • Previous experience using HR and Payroll systems would be advantageous.
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Assistant Manager Clinical Workforce is part of the Forensic Services Support (FSS) team, who support the Medical Services departments. We are a passionate team who feel privileged to support our amazing clinical staff.
This role leads the clinical workforce functions to ensure that there are suitably qualified clinical staff in the right place at the right time. It involves managing a complex roster, credentialling of clinical staff, arranging recruitment and workforce planning activities, and provides high level support to the Chief Medical Officer and Business Operations & Medical Workforce Manager.
This role has a large scope of responsibilities, is fast paced, and there is always something to be involved in, such as reviewing operational policies and procedures relating to clinical workforce matters, participating in or leading project management activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strengthen and expand the current pilot of the online rostering system.
  • Manage the credentialing and scope of clinical practice process for medical and nursing staff in line with legislative requirements and provide timely reports to the Committee.
  • Arrange the recruitment process for medical and nursing staff, in collaboration with the Human Resources team, including workforce planning, onboarding and induction.
  • Process continuing medical education (CME) claims and CME travel claims, including conducting a review of current processes, and identifying and implementing improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee the coordination of the Forensic Pathology roster and Clinical Forensic Medicine rosters, including leave management.
  • Ensure effective and timely induction of clinical staff and visitors to the Forensic Medical Services Division.
