Description

If you’re interested in the concert music world and the publishing world, this role is your chance to work with both. Theodore Presser Company is seeking an Assistant Manager for our Concert Music Rental Department. The ideal candidate is dedicated, highly motivated, detail-oriented, knowledgeable about classical music, has versatile skills; and is a negotiator and a problem solver when “the show must go on.”
This is a full time position based in our Malvern office.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3-5 years professional administrative work and management experience
  • 5+ years experience in customer service or related fields
  • BA/BS degree, major/minor in music related fields a plus
  • Strong Knowledge/background in classical music a must
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Extraordinary customer service commitment
  • Strong work ethic, organized and detail-oriented
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently
  • Proactive and creative problem solving skills
  • Organizational and project-management skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Google Drive programs
  • Intermediate skills in MS Excel
  • Digitally savvy: is very comfortable with technology, and with learning and using new systems and applications.

  • Effective communication skills: professional, cheerful and courteous demeanor
  • Comfortable in a changing environment, and with learning new processes
  • Familiarity with engraving software programs not required, but a plus
  • Reports to Rental Manager
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to safely climb step ladders to access some inventory; routine handling packages of music, and occasional handling of heavy boxes
    Compensation will depend on prior experience. Full-time position offers an attractive benefits package after 3 months of full-time employment, which includes health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, short term disability and a 401-K plan as well as paid time off.

Responsibilities
  • Help manage general department responsibilities:
  • Customer service
  • Order receipt and entry
  • Billing and credits, some collection
  • Assist with domestic and foreign publisher partner communications:
  • Handle incoming and outgoing inter-publisher work inquiries.
  • Order new and replacement inventory from distributed publishers.
  • Manage tasks associated with intake process for new works:
  • Compile and/or check work data in operating systems
  • Prepare, check and edit work abbreviated instrumentations
  • Complete new work information stored in HLMSW
  • Prepare grand rights contracts for staged performances.
  • Assist with coordinating Grand Rights, recording/rental and other special terms and licenses.
  • Generate reports and perform other data related tasks including:
  • Compile concert performance data for Performing Rights Societies: ASCAP, BMI, SESAC
  • Create monthly performance notifications for a select group of composers.
  • Compile monthly performance/revenue log by publisher groups
  • Accounts receivable tasks:
  • Monitor and record payments from rental customers.
  • Work with Accounting Department by providing billing and payment customer service as needed
  • Assist with planning and data coordination for promotion campaigns.
  • Liaison with Performance Promotion, Sales, Special Reproductions and Fulfillment Departments.
