MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN CRAWLEY: JOIN DEBRA AS ASSISTANT SHOP MANAGER

Are you a motivated and customer-focused individual seeking a fulfilling part-time opportunity where your efforts directly contribute to a worthy cause? DEBRA, the charity dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by the rare and painful skin condition Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB), is looking for a dedicated Assistant Shop Manager to join our vibrant team in Crawley. This permanent, part-time position offers a chance to make a real difference while engaging in a dynamic and hands-on work environment.

Responsibilities

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING: A BLEND OF HANDS-ON MANAGEMENT AND TEAM SUPPORT

This is a dynamic role that requires both manual dexterity and strong interpersonal skills.

You will work closely with the Shop Manager, playing a crucial role in the daily success of the shop. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Hands-on Processing and Presentation: Actively sorting, lifting, carrying, and pricing donated items, including clothing, books, and homeware. You will also be responsible for creating visually appealing window and in-store displays, which involves physical arrangement and movement of merchandise.
  • Exceptional Customer Engagement: Providing a warm and welcoming shopping experience for all customers, offering assistance, and building positive relationships.
  • Maintaining Shop Standards: Ensuring the shop floor is clean, tidy, and well-organised, which may involve some light physical tasks.
  • Stock Management with Physical Involvement: Actively managing stock levels, which includes receiving, moving, and organising donations within storage areas.
  • Volunteer Support and Guidance: Assisting in the recruitment, training, and ongoing support of our valued team of volunteers, fostering a positive and collaborative environment.
  • Financial Transactions and Security: Handling financial transactions accurately and ensuring the security of the shop premises.

To thrive in this role, you will need:

  • Strong teamwork and clear communication skills to collaborate effectively with the Shop Manager, colleagues, and volunteers.
  • Excellent organisational skills and a proactive approach to managing tasks and using your initiative.
  • Comfort and capability to handle the physical aspects of the role, including lifting and moving stock, arranging displays, and general shop maintenance.
  • A genuine passion for delivering outstanding customer service and creating a positive shopping experience
