About the Division The Quality, Independence, Risk and Reputation (QIRR) and Office of the General Counsel (OGC) Department deals with any issues that potentially expose Deloitte to risk. The issues impacting the firm are varied and may include reputation, operational, litigation and regulatory risk. Risk Management is about identifying and managing risks to the Firm, and it includes conducting checks necessary to ensure that the individual professionals act and make decisions that achieve the objectives of the firm, comply with professional and legal requirements and that they are ethical. The role of the QIRR & OGC team is not only to make sure there is an effective compliance framework in place, but also to raise awareness of the issues involved and encourage consultation whenever questions or concerns arise. We have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual to join our Member Firm Internal Services Department – QIRR & OGC team as an Assistant Manager – East/West Africa – Conflict Checks and Client Acceptance & Continuance. This position will be based in our Nairobi office in Kenya. Job Description What you will do 1. Monitoring of Conflict Check and Client Acceptance Queues Oversee and track the status of conflict checks and client acceptance requests using dashboards. Identify training needs and allocate work within the team. Ensure timely, high-quality completion of all checks. Guide and support Risk Analysts, and initiate training where required. 2. Review of Conflict and Client Acceptance & Continuance Checks Review and validate checks for quality, accuracy, and compliance with firm policies (DPM 1420, 1430, 1510, 1540, 1610). Maintain updated records and databases. Apply critical thinking to identify issues and suggest process improvements. Support ARIeS system enhancements and ensure all responses are properly tracked. 3. Average Handling Time of Conflict Checks Support team members to ensure conflict checks are completed within required timelines (2–5 days for non-audit, 6–10 days for audit). Monitor and report on cases exceeding target timelines. 4. Communication with Team and Management Maintain regular communication with management on issues and updates. Keep the team informed of process changes and important matters. 5. Attending and Contributing to Additional Activities Assist with general and ad hoc tasks, training, and presentations. Consult on related areas and proactively suggest improvements. Qualifications A bachelors degree in a relevant field. Professional certification (e.g. ACCA, CPA, CA, CIMA) is an advantage. Minimum 4–6 years’ relevant experience in risk management, compliance, audit, or a similar professional services environment. Prior experience in conflict checks, client acceptance/continuance, or risk review processes is highly desirable. Experience in supervising or managing a team. Strong understanding of risk, compliance, and regulatory requirements in a professional services firm. Familiarity with Deloitte’s policies and procedures (especially DPM 1420, 1430, 1510, 1540, 1610) is an advantage. Proficient in using dashboards, workflow management tools, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Experience with risk management systems (e.g. ARIeS) is a plus.
