Description
Title : Surge Arrester Certification Engineer with 10 to 15 Years of Experience : A Surge Arrester Testing Engineer with 15 years of experience needs strong knowledge of surge arrester principles, testing standards (IEEE, IEC), and a practical understanding of power system phenomena like transient overvoltages and temporary overvoltages. Key requirements include hands-on experience with testing procedures (visual inspection, electrical tests like high-current impulse tests, and routine tests), analyzing arrester performance (e.g., discharge voltage), and interpreting test results against specifications and standards, with a strong foundation in electricity and safety protocols.  Technical Skills & Knowledge Surge Arrester Fundamentals: Deep understanding of how arresters work, their different types (e.g., metal-oxide varistor-based), and their role in protecting equipment from power system surges. Testing Standards: Proficiency with relevant standards such as IEEE and IEC, which govern arrester design, testing, and performance criteria. Power System Phenomena: A thorough grasp of transient and temporary overvoltages, how they are generated, and their impact on arresters and connected equipment. Testing Procedures: Expertise in various testing techniques, including: Visual Inspection: Ability to identify physical damage, cracks, or other defects. Electrical Testing: Hands-on experience with electrical tests, such as determining discharge voltage and conducting high-current impulse tests and routine tests. Data Interpretation: Skill in analyzing test data and interpreting results to assess arrester functionality and safety, ensuring compliance with specifications.  Experience 15 Years of Experience: Extensive practical experience in surge arrester testing, likely across different types of equipment and system voltages. Field & Lab Experience: A balance of hands-on field experience and laboratory work especially CPRI, ERDA and good labs in India, encompassing the full lifecycle from installation to maintenance and condition monitoring.  Added advantage of having SA laboratory setup experience. Essential Abilities Problem-Solving: The ability to identify and diagnose issues with surge arresters based on test results and performance data. Safety Awareness: Adherence to strict safety protocols when working with high-voltage equipment. Communication: Ability to communicate technical information clearly to colleagues and management.
Responsibilities
This role involves serving as a Surge Arrester Certification Engineer, requiring deep knowledge of arrester principles and adherence to testing standards like IEEE and IEC. Key duties include executing hands-on electrical tests, analyzing performance data such as discharge voltage, and ensuring compliance with power system safety protocols.
