  • VPS Grade 5: $113,022 - $136,747 plus superannuation.
    The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking an Assistant Manager, Facility Operations to provide a critical role within the Post Sentence Branch.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • A relevant tertiary qualification is preferred, but not mandatory.
Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Manager, Facility Operations, the Assistant Manager, Facility Operations is responsible for coordinating the interface between the Post Sentence Branch, relevant prisons, post sentence residential facilities, and legal services to contribute to the efficient and effective management of matters under the legislation. The role will be required to oversee the service functions of the Branch relating to the management of offenders subject to supervision orders. This role will also lead and guide others in the Post Sentence Branch as required.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Manage and monitor operational service functions for the Post Sentence Branch and ensure these functions are consistent with the relevant legislation and associated operating procedures.
  • Provide strategic and authoritative advice to senior management and the Secretary in the provision of high level reports, briefings, memos, recommendations and ministerial correspondence.
  • Give evidence in Court in respect of eligible offenders, including those subject to Detention and Supervision Orders.

  • Proven ability to work within a highly complex service delivery area, preferably in relation to individuals with multiple and complex needs and/or within a legislative framework.
  • Demonstrated capacity to understand and apply legislation, procedures, guidelines and policies to decision making.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and/or experience in best practice case management to proactively manage the risk of complex individuals
