ASSISTANT MANAGER – CANNABIS & VAPE RETAIL True North Cannabis Co. / True North Vapes At True North Cannabis Co. We are currently looking for an experienced and motivated Assistant Manager to support daily operations across our cannabis and vape retail locations. POSITION SUMMARY The Assistant Manager supports the Store Manager in overseeing daily retail operations, staff supervision, customer experience, inventory control, and compliance execution within a fast-paced cannabis and vape retail environment. This role plays a critical part in maintaining operational continuity, ensuring stores remain compliant, and supporting overall team performance. WHAT YOU’LL DO LEADERSHIP & TEAM SUPPORT * Supervise and support employees during scheduled shifts * Coach, mentor, and provide ongoing performance feedback * Assist with onboarding and training new team members * Reinforce company policies, procedures, and workplace expectations * Support performance management and progressive discipline processes STORE OPERATIONS * Assist with day-to-day retail operations * Execute opening and closing procedures * Complete cash handling, deposits, and register reconciliations * Monitor store performance and operational priorities * Help ensure stores remain operational during scheduled business hours CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE * Deliver exceptional, knowledgeable, and compliant customer service * Support customer escalations and problem resolution * Ensure all transactions follow company policy and legal requirements * Maintain a welcoming and professional retail environment COMPLIANCE & INVENTORY * Ensure compliance with AGCO standards and applicable regulations * Verify IDs and follow refusal protocols when required * Support inventory counts, receiving, reconciliation, and loss prevention * Maintain audit readiness and accurate store records MERCHANDISING & STORE STANDARDS * Maintain store cleanliness and presentation standards * Ensure displays and merchandising remain compliant * Support overall organization of sales floor and backroom areas WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR * Minimum 2 years of retail leadership or management experience * Valid CannSell Certification * Strong leadership and communication skills * Experience with POS systems, cash handling, and inventory management * Ability to multitask in a fast-paced retail environment * Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays * Must meet legal age requirements for regulated product sales * Ability to successfully complete a criminal background check WORKING CONDITIONS * Standing and walking for extended periods * Lifting up to 50 lbs * Continuous customer interaction * Exposure to cannabis and nicotine vapor odors WHY JOIN TRUE NORTH? * Growth opportunities within a rapidly expanding retail company * Supportive leadership and team-focused culture * Hands-on leadership experience in a highly regulated industry * Employee discounts and team incentives * Fast-paced, exciting retail environment ADDITIONAL INFORMATION This role may support operations across affiliated businesses, including cannabis and vape retail locations, based on operational needs and scheduling requirements.
