What a typical day looks like: ERP System Management & Optimization: Configure, maintain, and optimize Baan ERP modules (e.g. production, inventory, procurement, finance, sales, planning) to support and streamline manufacturing processes. This includes managing system parameters, performing routine maintenance, and planning upgrades or integration projects to improve efficiency. Technical Support & Issue Resolution: Lead the ERP support team in troubleshooting system issues and providing prompt technical support to end-users. Ensure timely resolution of ERP problems and minimal disruption to operations. When needed, coordinate with vendor or global support for complex issues, applying robust problem-solving to maintain high system availability. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with departments such as production, inventory management, procurement, and finance to ensure business processes are accurately mapped and optimized in the Baan ERP environment. Act as an ERP subject-matter expert in cross-functional meetings, gathering requirements and implementing solutions that improve workflows (e.g. better production planning, inventory control, or supply chain visibility). User Training & Guidance: Provide training and guidance to ERP users and junior IT staff on effective use of the Baan system. Develop user manuals or SOPs for key ERP processes, conduct periodic training sessions for new features or employees, and mentor junior team members in ERP best practices. This ensures high user adoption and competent in-house support. Data Integrity & Compliance: Oversee data integrity in the ERP through periodic audits and checks. Ensure that master data (items, BOMs, vendors, etc.) and transaction data remain accurate and up-to-date, and that ERP processes comply with all relevant statutory and corporate requirements. This includes enforcing proper authorization controls, supporting audits, and ensuring compliance with standards (e.g. GST tax configuration, quality control data, or reporting regulations) as applicable. Required Skills & Qualifications ERP Expertise: In-depth knowledge of Baan ERP (Infor/Baan V or LN) or equivalent and its modules, with strong grasp of ERP concepts and manufacturing business processes. Ability to configure modules and interpret business requirements for production, supply chain, and finance within the system. Familiarity with related technologies (databases, ERP integration tools) is essential. Education & Experience: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Experience: At least 10+ years in enterprise ERP implementation or support roles (preferably with Baan or similar ERPs), including exposure to manufacturing environments and some leadership or project management experience. (Having certifications in ERP systems or ITIL, and experience in Tamil Nadu’s manufacturing sector or similar regions, is a plus for contextual knowledge.) Technical & Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities. Proficiency in Baan ERP tooling and relevant technical skills – for example, working with Baan Tools/4GL, SQL/database queries, and understanding ERP architecture for debugging and customization. Capable of analyzing complex system issues, identifying root causes, and implementing effective solutions or enhancements. Leadership & Team Management: Proven ability to lead a technical team and manage ERP-related projects. Skills in task delegation, coaching, and performance monitoring of team members to ensure high productivity and service quality. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to manage stakeholders and explain technical issues in simple terms to non-technical colleagues. Effective at coordinating with cross-functional teams, vendors, and management, and at driving the team toward meeting targets and deadlines. Adaptability & Initiative: Proactive and adaptable, with a continuous improvement mindset. Stays updated on ERP best practices and emerging solutions. Able to identify opportunities to enhance system functionality or process efficiency, and take initiative in proposing and implementing changes. High attention to detail (especially regarding data accuracy and compliance) and the capacity to work under pressure to meet operational needs.
