Position Summary The Landscape Assistant Manager supports the Landscape Manager in overseeing the care, maintenance, and development of landscaped areas across Kualoa Ranch. This role helps coordinate daily operations, supervises crew leads and landscapers, and ensures that Kualoa’s grounds reflect the beauty, safety, and cultural values of the land. The Assistant Manager plays a key role in team development, project execution, and cross-departmental collaboration, stepping in to lead the department in the Manager’s absence. Key Responsibilities Operational Oversight Assist in planning and supervising daily landscaping activities across the property. Provide direct oversight to crew leads and staff, ensuring high standards of work and safety. Monitor irrigation systems, plant health, fertilization, and pest management. Conduct site inspections and ensure timely resolution of landscape issues. Team Leadership & Training Mentor and support crew leads and landscapers, fostering professional growth. Assist with hiring, onboarding, and performance management of staff. Help develop training programs focused on horticultural practices, equipment use, and safety. Project & Design Support Assist with planning and implementing site enhancement projects, including ornamental displays and native plantings. Collaborate with Land Stewardship, Facilities, and other departments on cross-functional landscape initiatives. Provide recommendations on plant selection and sustainable landscape practices. Administration & Resources Track labor hours, material use, and project progress for reporting to the Landscape Manager. Assist in managing inventory, ordering supplies, and maintaining equipment. Contribute to budget preparation and cost tracking. Step in to lead the department in the absence of the Landscape Manager. Minimum Qualifications 3+ years of professional landscaping or grounds management experience, with at least 1 year in a leadership role. Strong working knowledge of horticulture, irrigation, and grounds equipment. Experience supervising or mentoring staff. Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills. Ability to interpret landscape plans and site maps. Valid Hawaiʻi driver’s license with clean driving record required. Must be able to consistently lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Physical Requirements Endurance to perform outdoor labor for extended periods. Ability to work in varying weather conditions, including heat, rain, and wind.
