Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

As Assistant Manager, you’ll support the General Manager in all aspects of pub operations. You’ll be at the forefront, making sure every guest enjoys a memorable experience, and you’ll be responsible for managing the team to ensure excellent service across all shifts. This role is hands-on, and no two days will be the same — from leading the team during busy service periods to ensuring all stock is managed and our high standards are maintained.
You’ll work alongside the General Manager to oversee both front-of-house and back-of-house activities, with the opportunity to step up when the GM is off duty. Your leadership will make a real difference in how the pub is run on a day-to-day basis.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Customer Service Excellence: Ensure all guests have a positive experience from arrival to departure, with top-notch service every time
  • Team Leadership: Assist with recruitment, training, and mentoring of front-of-house staff to create a motivated and well-equipped team
  • Operational Support: Help with opening and closing the pub, cashing up, and balancing the tills at the end of the night
  • Stock Control: Manage stock levels, perform regular stocktakes, and order supplies to ensure the pub is always well-stocked
  • Compliance & Health & Safety: Make sure all operations comply with food hygiene, licensing laws, and health & safety standards
  • Problem Solving: Handle customer queries, complaints, and issues in a calm and professional manner
  • Event Coordination: Assist with organising and running special events, live entertainment, and promotions
  • Leadership in Action: Take charge during busy periods to ensure smooth service and maintain a positive working environment
