Description The Meat Department is looking for a motivated Assistant Manager to help support daily operations at our meat counter. This role focuses on delivering excellent customer service, maintaining fresh and well-presented product displays, and supporting inventory, pricing, and quality standards. Requirements Essential Job Functions: • Perform and/or supervise the cutting, weighing, wrapping, and preparation of meat and related products to meet customer specifications. • Ensure accurate pricing, packaging, labeling, and presentation of meat products for quality, compliance, and merchandising standards. • Maintain strong product knowledge to effectively assist customers and confidently answer questions. • Assist with ordering, receiving, and inventory control to maintain proper stock levels. • Unload, transport, and properly store deliveries of fresh meat and poultry. • Support and help supervise daily department operations to ensure efficiency, productivity, and service standards. • Train and support new team members and ensure all associates remain up to date on department procedures, food safety, sanitation, and operational best practices. • Inspect, rotate, and merchandise products to ensure freshness, quality, and minimal waste. • Enforce and promote all food safety, sanitation, and handling policies in accordance with company and regulatory standards. • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, including equipment, prep areas, and displays. • Communicate and assist with the implementation of new processes, standards, and operational updates within the department. • Demonstrate strong organization, attention to detail, leadership presence, and communication skills while working collaboratively with management, team members, and customers Minimum Skills and Qualifications: • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a meat department, including hands-on meat cutting experience. • Minimum of 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience. • Strong basic math skills for weighing, pricing, inventory, and transaction accuracy. • Ability to manage product dates, rotation, and freshness standards. • Ability to work collaboratively across departments. • Proven ability to multitask, prioritize, and stay organized in a fast-paced environment. • Strong customer service and communication skills. • High attention to detail with a commitment to food safety and quality standards. • English required; Spanish is a plus. • Availability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Physical Demands: • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during scheduled shifts. • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling. • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis. • Ability to work in cold, refrigerated, and freezer environments. • Manual dexterity to safely use knives, cutting tools, and meat processing equipment. • Ability to work around raw meat, poultry, cleaning agents, and sanitizing chemicals. • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment. • Clear vision and hearing to ensure safety, quality control, and effective communication. • Ability to climb a step stool or ladder when necessary.
