We have an opportunity for an experienced Assistant Manager - Operations to join our team in Huddersfield on a full time, permanent basis.
Myers Building & Timber Supplies has 17 branches throughout Yorkshire and is part of the family-owned Myers Group. Responsibilities

ROLE SUMMARY

As a key member of the MBTS team, the primary aim of this role is to support the Branch Manager in driving operational effectiveness and improving / maintaining the highest standards within the branch.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute to a proactive culture of H&S, ensuring all staff, visitors and customers comply with the Company HSE policies and procedures.
  • Ensure the branch is OHSE Scorecard compliant.
  • Identify and implement improvements to the operational activities within the branch
  • Oversee the activities of the Yard Team including plant/equipment inspections and routine maintenance
  • Liaise with staff to ensure that all despatch and loading activities are undertaken safely and efficiently.
  • By utilising the team ensure that the shop products are replenished on a regular basis, stock is pulled forward to the front of the shelf, and rotated where it has a sell by date
  • Ensure the presentation of the shop is neat, tidy and generally well presented
  • Ensure any sales displays or promotional displays are well presented and merchandised effectively
  • By utilising the team conduct regular stock counts as per the Company Policy ensuring the targets are met
  • Maintain an effective system to check off incoming deliveries of products from suppliers , ensuring they are delivered in full, reporting any discrepancies to suppliers making sure we receive a credit or replacements
  • Receipting of supplier delivery notes onto the Bistrack system
  • Locate new products and update changes to existing product locations onto the Bistrack system
  • Review regularly any products displayed in ‘No Bin Location’ on the Bistrack system ensuring they are located correctly both in the branch and on the system
  • Review daily the negative stock report and investigate any discrepancies, correcting stock levels where necessary
  • Using the Bistrack system check daily for any changes required to shelf edge labelling and ensure all shop products have a shelf edge label displayed
  • Oversee activities for interbranch transfers, internal stock movements, and stock cleanses
  • Review the Obsolete Stock and Template Special reports displaying any products identified for clearance
  • Review outstanding PO’s, chase up suppliers for any overdue orders and cleanse the PO’s from the system where necessary
  • Organise product literature and ensure it is replaced when needed
  • Check yard tally books, reporting any discrepancies to the Branch Manager
  • Carry out duties in the yard and warehouse as and when required
  • Any other reasonable duties which may be required by the Company from time to time, as instructed by or under the direction of your line manager.
  • Deputise for the branch manager in their absence where required for tasks relating to your role
