QUALIFICATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Specialist Diploma in WSH or its equivalent
  • Certificate of Completion for Environmental Control Officer (SCS)
  • Registered WSH Officer with MOM and Registered ECO with NEA
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in the construction industry
  • Experienced in the implementing ISO 45001 or ISO 14001
  • Strong knowledge of WSH & Environmental regulations and best practices
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities:

PURPOSE AND SCOPE

This role covers both the role of Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO) and the Environmental Control Officer (ECO). The WSH Officer is responsible for ensuring that the workplace complies with safety and health regulations to prevent accidents and promote a safe working environment. This role involves conducting inspections, risk assessments, and implementing safety measures. The ECO is responsible for ensuring that environmental standards are met to prevent pollution and other environmental hazards. This role involves monitoring construction sites, implementing environmental control measures, and liaising with relevant authorities.

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Workplace Safety & Health
  • Responsible for planning, implementing and monitoring the worksite’s WSH management system
  • Conduct regular WSH inspections and audits to ensure compliance with WSH regulations.
  • Develop and implement worksite’s WSH policies and procedures.
  • Identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions including the review of risk assessments
  • Assist in identifying and recommending best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce work process risks, raise safety awareness, and improve safe work practices.
  • Advise project management of compliance issues, recommend solutions and assure problems are resolved.
  • Investigate incidents to determine causes and preventive measures.
  • Provide WSH training and education to employees.
  • Assist in the assessment of safety related supplies/equipment to ensure that supplies and equipment meets the necessary HSE needs.
  • Maintain records of WSH inspections, audits, and incidents.
  • Liaise with government authorities and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
  • Promote a culture of safety within the organization.
