POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Assistant Manager Retail Dining and Catering reports to the Cafe Operations Manager. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Responsible for requisitioning and ordering both food and non-food items to support retail operations in collaboration with other retail managers.
- Responsible for the oversight of the daily food production to ensure high quality customer service.
- Responsible for student employee scheduling, orientation, training and payroll responsibilities.
- Responsible for accurate cash reports and secure cash handling following established policies. Maintains security of all retail locations and their associated food, supplies, equipment, security access, cash controls and inventory/transfer records.
- Develops and maintains interactive relationships with our customers through actively listening to their comments and concerns. Provide appropriate feedback with the guidance of the Operations Manager and Director when necessary.
- Responsible for accurate cash reports and secure cash handling.
- Maintains inventory records and prepares reports as required.
- Responsible for safety and sanitation standards in the operations. This includes compliance with New York State Health Codes, OSHA requirements, and Auxiliary Services policies and procedures.
- Assists in meeting budget objectives and achieving divisional goals with regard to food, labor, and operational supplies.
- Responsible for the maintenance of the physical plant, including placing maintenance work orders and following up to their successful completion. This includes the custodial and housekeeping standards of the location.
- As part of the Retail Dining and Catering management team, develops constructive communication within the division to achieve divisional objectives and implementation of Dining Services’ policies and procedures.
- Performs special projects and duties as assigned by the Divisional Director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate Degree, with minimum of 1 year experience in the food or hospitality industry or Bachelors degree or equivalent military experience in food service.
Additional Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge and experience with Google/Microsoft and point of sales systems.
