At NorthBay Health the Assistant Manager, Security supports the Security Manager in the development, implementation, and monitoring of the NorthBay Health System-wide Security Program. Under the direction of the Security Manager, the incumbent assists in planning, directing, and coordinating daily activities relating to the protection, safeguarding, and security of employees, visitors, patients, and organizational assets. The Assistant Manager role requires strong leadership, operational oversight, mediation, and collaborative skills. The incumbent must demonstrate the ability to motivate and supervise security personnel using a results-oriented approach with positive performance accountability. In partnership with the Security Manager, the Assistant Manager contributes to proactive strategic planning, setting program goals and objectives to address current issues and emerging trends, with a focus on early mitigation strategies to enhance safety. These goals are achieved within established priorities, timelines, and fiscal constraints.  The Assistant Manager assists in identifying creative fiscal strategies to maintain or expand services while ensuring sound financial responsibility. Working collaboratively with the Security Manager, medical, nursing, and administrative leadership, the Assistant Manager provides input on organizational goals and objectives, emergency preparedness, security policies, procedures, and programs; maintains knowledge of industry best practices; and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Strong professional written and verbal communication skills, knowledge of human resources practices, critical thinking, and the ability to deliver training on a variety of security-related topics are essential. PRIMARY JOB DUTIES 1. Supports the Security Manager in planning, examining, analyzing, and evaluating the effectiveness of security operations related to physical security assets and security personnel.  2. Assists in evaluating precedents, current procedures, and industry best practices for security functions.  3. Provides operational support and oversight of the visitor management system, used to identify, track, and trend visitors entering the hospitals.      4. Assists in the supervision and oversight of all NorthBay Security personnel.  5. Responsible for providing all NorthBay personnel with appropriate Access Control clearances.  6. Reviews industry trends, changes in law and judicial outcomes making corresponding decisions based on sound risk management principles.  7. Assists in preparing periodic budget estimates and reports; orders supplies and equipment, ensures efficiency and quality control; proactively and creatively revues systems and is vigilant for opportunities to expand services while reducing expenditures whenever possible.  8. Assists in identifying and resolving security-related problems; supports the development and implementation of alternative methods for security operation improvement.  9. Supports and participates in internal investigations relating to losses or violations of regulations, policies, and procedures.  10. Fosters and maintains working relationships with local law enforcement, emergency preparedness entities, business and community leaders and groups designed to promote a positive and professional organizational image, the sharing of resources and services.  11. Performs security assessments as required by regulation and participates in the development of security enhancements as they relate to facilities. 12. Assists in conducting physical and human behavioral threat assessment when circumstances warrant.
