JOB DESCRIPTION Asst Manager -SHE will report to the Facilities Lead and is responsible for providing support to ensure facilities services are provided in an effective and efficient manner, as well as being the initial point of contact for the Facilities department. This person must also always demonstrate a high level of security awareness and have knowledge of emergency evacuation procedures and Health & Safety. Role Purpose Ensure robust, compliant, and continuously improving SHE performance across AZPIL facilities, aligning with AstraZeneca’s Global SHE framework and OneSHE programs, while embedding a strong safety culture and reducing organizational risk. Key Responsibilities SHE Strategy and Alignment: Establish site SHE strategy; align and deploy AstraZeneca Global SHE and OneSHE programs across AZPIL; drive stakeholder engagement and change management. Program Deployment and Improvement: Assess current practices, perform gap analyses, and implement policies, procedures, and tools to achieve full compliance and continual improvement. Culture and Communication: Cascade the SHE management system to all employees; build an accountable safety culture through training, campaigns, and regular communications. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, national, and international SHE regulations; maintain certifications, records, inspections, and corrective actions. Audits and Readiness: Lead internal assessments and compliance audits; address observations; maintain audit readiness for corporate and regulatory reviews. Risk Management: Conduct risk assessments (operations, changes, vendors); maintain a site risk register; implement mitigations per the hierarchy of controls and AZ risk framework; report to leadership via governance forums. Incident Management: Establish simple reporting mechanisms; lead/assist investigations; determine root causes; implement corrective and preventive actions; track closure. Metrics and Reporting: Develop dashboards and KPIs; analyse trends; provide monthly governance reports to AZPIL Leadership. Vendor and Third-Party Oversight: Evaluate vendor SHE practices; close gaps; ensure alignment and compliance with AZPIL SHE requirements. Stakeholder Partnership: Work with senior/site management and Global SHE to develop strategies, policies, and services that increase safety and reduce risk. Emergency Preparedness: Develop and maintain site-specific emergency response plans; conduct drills/tabletop exercises; ensure team readiness and continuous improvement. Environmental Stewardship: Design and implement environmental initiatives (e.g., water management, waste, energy) aligned to AZ sustainability goals and industry best practices. Operational Controls: Ensure routine SHE checks and tests (life-safety systems, electrical, food safety, water hygiene) and timely remediation. Candidate Profile Expertise: Deep understanding of SHE in office and facility environments; proven deployment of global frameworks and industry best practices. Risk and Audit: Hands-on experience in risk assessments (facility and vendors), incident/near-miss analysis, and comprehensive SHE audits with sustained audit readiness. Regulatory Knowledge: Up to date on SHE statutory and regulatory requirements relevant to AZPIL sites. Governance: Experience establishing, SHE governance models, leading cross-functional engagement, and influencing senior stakeholders. Emergency Management: Skilled in developing emergency plans and conducting drills/tabletop trainings; capable of leading responses to diverse scenarios. Environmental Programs: Strong knowledge of environmental protection initiatives and practical implementation. Skills: Strong communication, training facilitation, data-driven decision-making, problem-solving, and stakeholder management; proficiency with SHE systems and reporting tools. Quality Safety and Environment (QSE) Demonstrable knowledge of existing Health and Safety legislation and Regulations and their applicability to facilities management. Performance Management and Contract Governance Knowledge and capability to report on and analyze performance results, creating and implementing corrective action plans where required. LOCATION Mumbai Experience: 8 to 10 years Qualifications BE/B Tech/M Tech in safety Engineering/ B Sc/Graduate from hotel management institutes. Facilities Management Professional credentials desirable. Good IT skills including Microsoft Office (especially Excel & Power Point) Good understanding of Mechanical and Electrical Strong track record of managing external relationships Lead auditor certification in ISO 14001, have handled internal & external SHE /HSE audits for the MNC/ organization Good oral and written communication skills PREFERABLE INDUSTRY: IT or Manufacturing or Pharma or any specific Preferably Pharma OVERALL YEARS OF EXPERIENCE: 10 to 12 years Reporting to: This candidate will report to Facilities Lead Why AstraZeneca?
