Description

We’re on the hunt for an enthusiastic, community-minded Assistant Manager to join our team at The Public Market – a vibrant city farm shop that’s all about local produce, good food, and great vibes.
Located in the heart of the community, The Public Market brings together a love for seasonal, sustainable goods with a warm and welcoming space that’s part deli, part coffee shop, and all heart.
About the Role
As Assistant Manager, you’ll be a key player in the day-to-day running of the shop. From supporting the team, to delivering top-notch service and keeping things running smoothly, this role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic, people-focused environment.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Supporting the Shop Manager with daily operations
  • Leading and motivating the team on shift
  • Creating a welcoming, community-focused atmosphere
  • Assisting with stock management and merchandising
  • Making excellent coffee (barista skills are a big plus, but not essential)
  • Ensuring high standards across service, hygiene, and presentation
  • Pitching in on everything from displays and restocks to ideas for improving how we do things

We’re Looking For:

  • Previous retail and/or hospitality experience (ideally both!)
  • Barista training or a solid love of coffee
  • A can-do attitude and friendly personality
  • Strong organisational skills and a hands-on approach
  • Passion for local food and supporting community initiatives
  • Excellent communication skills and a natural way with people
  • A strong sense of initiative, with the ability to adapt to whatever the day throws at you

This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to grow within an independent business that values people, produce, and purpose. If you’ve got a passion for food, people, and planet, we’d love to hear from you.
