JOB TITLE: Assistant Materials Manager DEPARTMENT : Materials REPORTS TO: Materials Manager LOCATION: Ypsilanti, MI - YIP SHIFT: Full Time - 1st Shift POSITION DESCRIPTION:  * Oversight of purchasing and repairs processes and procedures to ensure maximum on-time delivery, cost efficiency, and effective review in the procurement and repair of aircraft parts and materials. * Identify and evaluate opportunities to improve Materials Department process quality, and recommend or implement changes as needed in alignment with Kalitta Air Maintenance standards across all maintenance facilities. * Maintain adequate stock levels of all expendable and rotable components to support operational readiness and minimize delays. * Work closely with the Inventory Control team to maintain adequate stock levels of all expendable and rotable components to support operational readiness and minimize delays; reconcile discrepancies, and support accurate tracking of materials. * Oversee shipping and receiving activities across all maintenance facilities, including both domestic and international locations. Communicate any issues or obstacles that may hinder the movement of aircraft materials to the Materials Manager, ensuring timely resolution and continuity within Kalitta Air’s supply chain. * Train and support personnel in accordance with company policies, ensuring the Materials Department meets FAA and company standards. * Work closely with the AOG Desk Supervisor to oversee initial and recurrent training for AOG Desk personnel, ensuring all processes and procedures are consistently followed and aligned with company and regulatory standards. * Collaborate with external partners to manage the stocking and staging of contracted aircraft parts at our stations, ensuring availability and efficiency for multiple airlines. * Perform any other duties assigned by the Materials Management. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school graduate; some college and/or technical school desirable. Aviation experience preferred w/ background in navigating and using Inventory Management databases. Microsoft Office experience is required, including Excel, Outlook and Word. Proficient communication skills is a must. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, write and understand spoken and written English. Ability to create / write routine reports and correspondence.  QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
