Department Overview The Assistant Nurse Manager (ANM) is a registered nurse (RN) who is responsible for upholding excellence in the provision of nursing care through the implementation of the Profession Practice Model. The ANM, in association with the Nurse Manager, is responsible for the managerial and leadership functions within a patient environment. The ANM partners with the interdisciplinary care team to ensure the delivery of safe, quality patient care and compliance with regulatory standards, and administrative and clinical policies and procedures. The ANM performs managerial activities, and demonstrates effective leadership behaviors including performing evaluations, employee mentoring, coaching, and performance management. The ANM implements quality and safety initiatives, engages in process improvement, ensures adherence to bargaining unit agreements and human resource management. The ANM creates and sustains a patient care environment that supports a safe, knowledgeable, compassionate, productive, and engaged staff. The ANMs decisions and actions are based on ethical principles as outlined by the American Nurses Association. The ANM practices in adherence with the American Nurses Association's (ANA) Nursing Administration: Scope and Standards of Practice for Nurse Administrators, the ANA Code of Ethics, the Oregon State Board Nurse Practice Act, and within the context of the Nurse Executive Competencies developed by the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE). Assists the manager in achieving the institutional approved goal of patient satisfaction.c) Supports orientation program, in conjunction with the Professional Practice Leader, for newly hired employees on the unit.d) Facilitates new employee assimilation to the unit culture on the off shift, ensuring a smooth transition and appropriate clinical and emotional support.e) In collaboration with the Nurse Manager, monitors the level of resources utilized in service delivery.f) Achieves financial targets for area of responsibility. 4 Knowledge Transfera) Engages in a formal process giving and receiving feedback regarding role performance from individuals, professional collegues, representatives, administrators, and others. b) Maintains open communication and information to all levels of the health care team.c) Serves on committees or task forces as assigned by Nurse Manager. Required Qualifications 3 years of relevant clinical experience with strong charge nurse experience Bachelor Degree in Nursing with an intent to return for Master’s Degree within two years Valid Oregon RN License Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Basic Life Support for healthcare providers (for ICUs only) Strong communication skills, conflict management, teamwork (demonstrated ability to build team and integrate existing teams), and experience in complex organization environments.
