We are seeking a full-time Nursing Assistant to support ophthalmic care under the supervision of an Ophthalmic Nurse. This role plays a vital part in ensuring a smooth clinic experience by delivering high-quality patient care and assisting physicians in providing optimal medical services. A. CLINICAL SUPPORT Attends to the patient’s and doctor’s clinic needs during the clinical exam which may entail but is not limited to the following: Preparing the patients in the diagnostic room Instilling the necessary eye drops Ensuring diagnostic tests are performed and complete test results are endorsed Preparing prescriptions as necessary Measuring IOPs (Intraocular Pressure) and using Tonopen or iCare Performing cataract screening by operating cataract machines such as Specular Microscopy, IOL Master, and Contact Biometry Performing vital signs assessments on patients as ordered by the doctor, including measuring temperature, blood pressure, pulse rate, and respiratory rate Discharging patients Assists Ophthalmic Nurses and Associates in receiving, preparing, monitoring, and discharging patients. This may include administering prescribed eye medications for pupil dilation or constriction. Ensures accurate medication administration by adhering to established safety protocols such as Time Out, Triple Check, and the 5Rs: Right Patient, Right Drug, Right Laterality, Right Dose, and Right Time and Frequency—especially during invasive procedures. Facilitates in-clinic laboratory processes by coordinating with laboratory and logistics personnel for timely specimen submission. Maintains infection control standards through consistent and proper sanitation and disinfection of medical equipment and instruments that come into contact with patients. Ensures that clinic services are functional, complete, and compliant with standard operating procedures. Verifies completeness of patient records and the Patient Daily Appointment Sheet (PDAS) for the next clinic day by cross-checking received records against the prepared schedule. Participates in clinical trials as delegated study personnel, performing protocol-specific tasks as outlined in the study documentation. B. EXAM ROOM PREPARATION Prepares all examination rooms at the start of the clinic, ensuring that all rooms are optimal for clinic use (i.e. equipment is functional, medications are complete, and all other requirements are fulfilled). Ensures all examination rooms, at the end of each clinic day are properly secured, organized, and ready for next-day endorsement. C. PATIENT VISIT COORDINATION Performs day-to-day functions in accordance with the processes and standards in the Patient Flow Center (PFC). Carries out plans for the patient’s visit by reviewing and understanding the doctor’s orders and recommendations. Informs the patient of any planned diagnostic or laser procedures by providing the correct quotation. Coordinates with the Patient Benefits Coordinator for Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) or Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PHIC) approval. Guides the patient in navigating their movement within the clinic. Ensures proper documentation of patient information, procedures performed, endorsements, etc. D. IN-CLINIC ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT Maintains an adequate supply of office and medical supplies in the clinic by monitoring inventory levels and ordering supplies needing replenishment. Aids in the analysis of clinic-related data by generating and submitting reports in a timely manner. May be assigned to another team or satellite clinic should the need arise. Minimum Qualifications: Must have completed a technical-vocational course in allied health services or a related medical field. Preferably with 1–2 years of experience in a hospital or eye clinic setting. Willing to be assigned in Makati City (Rockwell). Good communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and accurately. Capable of performing basic patient care, including measuring and recording vital signs, assisting with mobility, and administering medications. Demonstrates fundamental customer service skills and professional bedside manner.
