ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

• Degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy (BSc Occupational Therapy or equivalent).
• Registration with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC).
• Relevant experience working with clients with physical and/or learning disabilities, ideally within community settings.
• Sound knowledge of safeguarding, risk assessment, clinical governance, and evidence-based practice.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills, with the ability to engage and empower clients of all ages and backgrounds.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Confidence in delivering interventions across a variety of environments (e.g., home visits, community settings).
• IT literacy for record-keeping and report writing.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

• Experience working with both adults and children.
• Training in moving and handling, risk assessment, sensory integration, or similar areas.
• Post-qualification experience within specialist learning disabilities or community teams.
• Full UK driving licence (useful for community visits).

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Occupational Therapist to carry out assessments and provide treatment for adults and children with physical and learning disabilities within the community. This role focuses on supporting individuals to achieve greater independence, safety, and quality of life by addressing barriers to daily living and promoting wellbeing.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Complete comprehensive occupational therapy assessments for adults and children with a range of disabilities, identifying strengths, needs, and occupational performance deficits.
• Develop and deliver tailored intervention and treatment plans including risk assessments in partnership with the client, carers, and wider multidisciplinary team.
• Enable clients to participate in meaningful activities at home, school, work, and in the community, focusing on skills for daily living, self-care, education, and leisure.
• Provide advice and training to clients, families, and carers to promote maximum independence and participation.
• Liaise effectively with other professionals, such as social workers, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, schools, equipment providers, and voluntary agencies.
• Monitor, record, and review progress toward therapy goals; attend case discussions and contribute to multi-agency meetings.
• Support environmental adaptations and recommend assistive equipment where appropriate.
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date clinical records, complying with all professional and legal standards.
• Maintain best practice through regular professional development and engagement with clinical governance and quality agendas.
