Job Description The Assistant Operations Manager plays a key leadership role in supporting and overseeing daily operations involving barrier wall installation, permanent signage, and temporary traffic control. This position is responsible for scheduling, field execution, equipment readiness, workforce leadership, safety compliance, and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, hands‑on leader, and operational problem‑solver who thrives in a fast‑paced field environment. Key Responsibilities Lead day‑to‑day operational activities including labor planning, field crew execution, equipment/fleet readiness, and workflow coordination. Build, manage, and update installation schedules for barrier wall and permanent sign operations. Create quotes and manage tickets for wall, permanent sign, temporary sign, and labor service projects. Supervise and support field crews by providing direction, job plans, and operational guidance. Ensure crews are properly staffed, trained, equipped, and compliant with all safety regulations and company standards. Conduct performance conversations, coach employees, address performance or behavioral issues, and support corrective action processes. Assist in hiring, onboarding, training, and developing employees to improve retention and engagement. Perform job site layouts for barrier wall, permanent sign, and temporary sign projects; complete customer site walks and documentation. Monitor daily operations, resolve issues, and ensure jobs are completed accurately and on time. Conduct field reviews, daily traffic control checks, and jobsite quality/safety inspections. Manage equipment and fleet assets, coordinating repairs, rentals, and proper tool usage. Monitor inventory for barrier wall and permanent sign materials and request replenishment as needed. Submit and track underground locate requests for signage installations. Oversee incident reporting, investigations, and follow‑up corrective actions. Build and maintain customer relationships; act as an escalation point for service issues. Attend customer meetings and pre‑construction walkthroughs as needed. Review and approve weekly payroll and basic operational reporting. Qualifications Management or operations leadership experience in traffic control, MOT, heavy civil construction, or a related field. Experience supervising field crews with strong leadership, communication, and team‑building skills. FDOT Advanced MOT Certification or ATSSA certification preferred. Working knowledge of MUTCD guidelines and FDOT standards. Strong understanding of safety requirements, compliance standards, and field operational practices. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook). Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, bending, and kneeling. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, field‑driven environment. Ability to pass a background check and drug screen. Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, extended shifts, and on‑call responsibilities. Work Environment & Expectations Requires schedule flexibility and availability outside standard business hours. Office‑based with regular travel to job sites and customer locations.
