OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a skilled Assistant Pastry Chef to join our team. The ideal candidate will oversee and organize the pastry operations of the shop. This role is key to ensuring high-quality customer service, seasonal pastry innovation, keeping up with pastry trends, maintaining inventory, and ensuring the bakery meets health and safety regulations.

SKILLS:

  • Proficiency in laminated doughs and scratch made croissants
  • Proficiency in food safety practices
  • Experience with Point of Sale (POS) systems
  • Strong background in scratch pastry or kitchen management
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team effectively
  • Knowledge of bakery operations, equipment and techniques
  • Previous experience as an Lead Baker, Pastry Cook, Assistant Pastry Chef in a bakery, restaurant, hotel, or coffee shop is a plus
  • Addditional certification (e.g. Pastry Degree, Hospitality Management, ServSafe) is a plus.
  • Excellent customer service skills

Responsibilities
  • Manage all aspects of the bakery, including production, inventory, and innovation.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for baking processes
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain cleanliness standards
  • Train and collaborate with bakery staff, providing guidance and support as needed
  • Monitor sales trends together with Manager and adjust production levels accordingly
  • Creates and communicates weekly productivity goals, and adjusts bakery production based on changing business flow
  • Maintains hands-on knowledge of all bakery roles and steps in regularly to perform various responsibilities as businesses needs require
  • Facilitates the opening and closing of the bakery, as needed
  • Create and update menu offerings based on customer preferences and seasonal availability
