ASSISTANT PAYROLL MANAGER

Our Tier 1 client—recognized as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies—is looking for a talented Assistant Payroll Manager to oversee a dynamic team responsible for processing high-volume, biweekly payroll for over 9,000 employees across multiple provinces.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of experience in a payroll leadership role (retail industry preferred)
  • Proven ability to manage payroll for 2,000+ employees
  • Strong knowledge of multi-province ESA and payroll legislation
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and data analysis)
  • Detail-oriented, adaptable, and able to meet tight deadlines
  • PLP designation (completed or in progress) is required
Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of payroll administrators
  • Oversee full-cycle payroll processing, audits, and reporting
  • Manage and maintain time & attendance systems (ADP, Kronos, WFN)
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and provincial payroll legislation
  • Liaise with retail locations, providing timely and effective payroll solutions
  • Handle ROEs, payroll inquiries, and assist with accounting-related tasks
