ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:

The Resource Recovery Department handles the receiving, destruction, and recovery of commodities from unsellable consumer products. These include beverages, flavorings, spirits, drink concentrates, and related goods. Under the guidance of the Plant Manager, the Assistant Production Department Manager will help ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations while supervising several line supervisors and up to 50 permanent and temporary employees.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Vocational training and related experience considered.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 3+ years in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • 3–5 years of supervisory experience in an industrial setting.
  • 3–5 years of production management in a high-volume environment, including departmental P&L and budget responsibilities.
  • Skills:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and standard productivity software.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Preferred Certifications:
  • Industrial methodologies such as Six Sigma, DACOM Analysis, or equivalent.

ROLE: ASSISTANT PLANT MANAGER

Location: Bronx, NY
Pay: 65K - 67k Yearly
Schedule: Monday to Friday, some Saturdays
First Shift: 6:00 AM to 3:30 PM

Reports to: Plant Manager

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Safety Leadership: Ensure all operators, drivers, and laborers work safely and are fully trained; maintain safety records; schedule required safety training; administer the site’s safety incentive program.
  • Production & Scheduling: Maintain and monitor schedules for inbound and outbound products, ensuring loads are completed on time.
  • Operational Coordination: Oversee production and warehouse functions, including daily planning and staffing allocation.
  • Performance Tracking: Measure and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) for the department.
  • Process Improvement: Drive improvements in areas such as receipt-to-invoice cycle time, order backlog, commodity value and inventory, gauging accuracy, and productivity (e.g., variable cost per case).
  • Staff Management: Manage staffing requirements, time records, labor relationships, and departmental budgets; coordinate with payroll for accurate and timely staff payments.
  • Maintenance Coordination: Partner with the Maintenance Lead to prioritize work, establish preventive maintenance programs, source and coordinate outside services, and obtain approvals for purchases.
