REPORTS TO: Building Principal, up to SuperintendentPOSITION SUMMARY: This position is accountable for assisting the Principal with the administration and the efficient operation of all aspects of the high school facility consistent with sound educational principles and philosophy of education, which strongly emphasizes student learning and success. This individual is responsible for assuming shared responsibility with their fellow Assistant principals and Administrative staff in the supervision and educator evaluation responsibilities of the high school staff. This position will also be responsible for compliance with all mandated testing set forth by the Department of Education. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following: Coordinates all mandated testing procedures outlined by the Department of Education.Directs and controls student behavior and discipline, counsels students regarding acceptable school conduct and recommends appropriate action to be taken when necessary.Coordinates the instructional affairs within assigned departments and serves on the Instructional Leadership Team as determined by the Principal.Direct activities of the staff and students and ensure a safe, orderly, and smooth functioning environment conducive to learning.
Participates in the development of the annual master schedule, working in conjunction with the Principal and Guidance Department.Supervises and evaluates school site personnel for the purpose of monitoring performance and providing feedback for professional growth, following relevant procedures and policies when appropriate.Provides leadership with screening and interviewing applicants including substitutes, and/or recommending applicants to be interviewed.Assists the Principal with the development of the annual budget.Serves on various committees to represent the high school at the direction of the Principal.Implements student achievement improvement efforts as required by state and national regulations and as directed by the District and/or the Principal, and supports appropriate staff in implementation of special schedules and testing procedures as necessary.Collaborates with the administrative team regarding new or changing instructional methods, materials, strategies, and programs.Assists, determines, develops, and implements plans for staff development and school safety for the building that facilitates professional growth and enhances the quality and effectiveness of academic and vocational teaching connecting with the districts Strategic Plan and District goals. Assists and supports with the submission of all required reports, forms, and data requests on time to the designated sources.Manages school administrative functions as assigned by the Principal for the purpose of maintaining safe and efficient school operations and following school and district policies and procedures.Facilitates communication between and among personnel, students and/or families for the purpose of evaluating situations, solving problems, resolving conflicts, and celebrating achievement.Work/meet with other administrative team members and staff to foster a culture of collaboration and effectiveness.Performs any other duties as assigned by the Principal and Superintendent and/or their designee.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelors Degree required. Masters preferred.Minimum of five years in public education encompassing academic and vocational programming.MA DESE Academic and/or Vocational Principal/Assistant Principal License required.TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a 10 month, 200 day position.This position is part of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Bay Path Unit M Association and the SWCRVSDC.SALARY: Step and Level as appropriate on Unit Ms pay scale pursuant to the CBA, from $119,230.00 to $142,429.00.PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: The physical demands and the work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
