Primary objective
As part of the school leadership team, provide educational leadership and management of school wide programs and priorities, student
success and pathways, implement departmental and school-based policies and programs to achieve optimal educational outcomes for
students.
Context statement
Larapinta Primary School is located on the Western edge of Alice Springs with an enrolment of approximately 350 students in preschool
and the primary years from a range of cultural backgrounds, including approximately 48% who are Aboriginal. A Child and Family Centre
is also located on site. Larapinta works closely with community agencies, families and allied health professionals to support students and
their families to engage in all aspects of the learning program.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Plan, develop and oversee the implementation of effective school-wide programs and practices to ensure success for all learners.
2. In consultation with the leadership team and school representative body, develop and implement school policy, procedures, and
strategic planning; monitor, report and provide advice on operational, performance and resource issues; working with relevant
stakeholders.
3. Liaise with appropriate agencies to ensure effective development and implementation of programs to meet current and projected
student needs.
4. Develop relationships with families and community groups to support inclusive student engagement.
5. Consult with school staff, including principal and Special Education teachers in the implementation of training and projects to ensure
the development of enhanced Education Adjustment Plans (EAP), Individual Learning Plans (ILP), and evidence of adjustments with
the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD).
6. Manage the human resources to ensure quality education services.
7. Undertake appropriate teaching load.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated leadership in planning, implementing, and evaluating data-driven school-wide wellbeing and behaviour, curriculum,
assessment, reporting, and instructional practices.
2. Demonstrated leadership in developing, leading and monitoring actions to achieve the goals of the Annual School Improvement Plan
through implementation plans and professional learning.
3. Proven current effective leadership in the development and implementation of school processes and policies including the design and
delivery of programs, provision of targeted professional learning, and Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) record keeping.
4. Effectively lead and collaborate with colleagues, students and parents from various cultural and socio-economic groupings, and other
agencies, partners, and the broader community, to achieve high educational outcomes for all students.
Desirable
1. Experience and training in trauma informed practice and SWPBS.
2. Experience and training in systematic synthetic phonics program/s.
3. Relevant qualification in Special Education.
