Description
Position Summary The Assistant Produce Manager supports the Produce Manager in overseeing daily operations of the produce department to ensure high standards of freshness, presentation, inventory control, and customer service. This role assists with merchandising, associate supervision, ordering, and sanitation while helping drive sales and operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities * Assist in managing daily produce department operations, including stocking, rotation, and presentation * Ensure product freshness, quality standards, and proper FIFO rotation are consistently maintained * Support ordering, receiving, inventory control, and shrink reduction processes * Maintain department cleanliness, food safety, and sanitation standards at all times * Help execute merchandising plans, planograms, and seasonal displays * Assist with training, coaching, and supervising produce associates * Ensure associates follow safe work practices and proper handling procedures * Monitor backroom organization and cooler conditions * Provide excellent customer service by assisting customers with product selection and inquiries * Step into Produce Manager duties when assigned or in their absence * Communicate effectively with store leadership regarding sales, labor, and operational needs Qualifications * High school diploma or equivalent preferred * One or more years of produce or grocery experience preferred * Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred * Knowledge of produce handling, rotation, and food safety standards * Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform frequent bending, reaching, and standing * Strong organizational and time‑management skills * Ability to work flexible schedules, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays * Strong communication and teamwork skills Core Competencies * Produce quality and freshness focus * Merchandising and inventory management * Leadership and accountability * Customer service excellence * Food safety and sanitation compliance * Operational execution Pay Transparency: Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications, and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Candidates with unique qualifications may be considered for compensation above this range. Dependent on length of service, hours worked, any applicable collective bargaining agreement and/or Company policy, benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay*, PTO/Vacation pay*, paid holidays*, bereavement pay and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401(k) eligibility).  Associates in this position may be eligible for a quarterly bonus, subject to Company bonus plans. Applications are accepted on an on-going basis.   *For roles in Washington State: Sick pay and PTO/Vacation pay are accrued based on hours worked and paid holidays are issued at 7-9 days annually.
