Description Walt Churchill's Market is hiring a Full-Time Assistant Produce Manager for our Perrysburg, OH location. Job Description: The Assistant Produce Manager assists the Produce Department Manager in leading team members to achieve department goals. They will assist with department training, ensuring Produce Department staff understand standards and expectations for the department. The Assistant Produce Manager will act as department leader in the Manager's absence. The Assistant Produce Manager is expected to work 5 days per week for a total of 40 hours, including one weekend day. Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Assist Produce Manager in maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked department Serve as a back-up to the Produce Manager with regards to ordering produce for the department Become an expert on all items that are hand cut and created in the produce department, and ensure high quality Ensure department is well-stocked, fronted, and fresh at all times; paying close attention to pull damage, spoiled, or expired product Audit department for missing price tags and signage and replace or correct promptly Serve as department leader and mentor Produce Department staff to help them reach optimal performance Assist in staff training related to department procedures, proper and safe use of equipment, department cleaning, and customer service Work with Department Manager to solve department issues and improve procedures Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards mandated by government regulations Comply with state, local, and government weight, measures, and labeling Delegate work for maximum productivity Assist Produce Manager with quarterly inventory Calculate yields for different Produce Department products Maintain strong relationships with vendors Become forklift trained and certified, if applicable Learn and understand all aspects of produce, cuts, and popcorn Additional duties may be assigned We Offer: Employee Stock Ownership Plan - Become a WCM Owner!! Requirements Skills/Experience: Must be 18 years of age or older Moderate computer skills, including email, Excel, Word, and online ordering systems Great multitasking, organization, communication, and customer service skills Comfortable working with the public and greeting, speaking with, and assisting customers Attention to detail, ensuring duties are completed correctly and on time Leadership, sales, and merchandizing skills Ability to effectively train and motivate others Previous experience working with vendors and ordering product, preferred Education and Experience: High school diploma/GED ServSafe/Food Safety Certification or willingness to obtain Previous experience in grocery or other retail setting, preferred Previous Produce Department experience or related experience and knowledge Physical Requirements: Must be able to frequently life up to 60 pounds and occasionally up to 80 pounds Prolonged periods of standing, walking, twisting, lifting, bending, pulling, pushing, and reaching
