NNMC is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. NNMC operates from two campuses in Espanola and El Rito and serves an average of 1,500 students per semester. This position is an in-person position based at the NNMC main campus in Espanola, NM. The Department of Arts and Human Sciences at Northern New Mexico College invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-track faculty position with an optional three (3) month overload extension during the summer months. We seek a dynamic and interdisciplinary scholar with expertise in Humanities, Social Sciences, and/or Integrated Studies, who can enrich our Bachelor of Arts in Integrated Studies (BAIS) degree program and contribute to the intellectual vibrancy of our department. The BAIS at Northern is geared towards creating a learning community, offering dialog-style classes which integrate student learning by engaging in essential questions that give rise to thoughtful discussion and critical inquiry across disciplines. The successful candidate will bring multiple perspectives to the study of the arts and human sciences, demonstrating a strong commitment to teaching excellence, cultural diversity, and community engagement. We seek candidates whose work bridges traditional disciplinary boundaries, helping students connect ideas across the humanities, social sciences, and creative arts. A strong dedication to teaching and learning in a rural, Hispanic- and Indigenous-serving institution is essential, as is a commitment to community-engaged, culturally responsive pedagogy. This role emphasizes integrating New Mexico’s rich cultural diversity, history, and heritage into the curriculum, building on the region’s unique cultural capital in meaningful, inclusive, and transformative ways. Duties & Responsibilities Teach 12 credit hours per semester of undergraduate courses in Humanities, Integrated Studies, Arts and/or Social Sciences (based on expertise) in various modalities. Design curriculum fostering inclusive, place based teaching that bridges humanities, social sciences, and/or creative arts. Develop and teach new interdisciplinary courses that expand or complement existing offerings. Advise and mentor students pursuing associate and bachelor’s degrees in the Department of Arts and Human Sciences. Attend and support activities of the College such as scheduled events, faculty and departmental meetings, assigned committee meetings, and other academic functions such as workshops, seminars, orientations, planning sessions, convocations, and commencements, which require faculty participation. Contribute to the ongoing development and assessment of departmental curricula. Engage in scholarly and/or creative work that reflects interdisciplinary and culturally responsive approaches. Assist in developing regional partnerships to pursue internships and professional development opportunities for students. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Minimum of a Master’s degree in Arts and/or Human Sciences disciplines. Minimum 2 years of work experience teaching at the college/university level. Minimum 1 year of experience in curriculum development. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS PhD or a terminal degree in Arts and/or Human Sciences discipline. Evidence of interdisciplinary research work. 3 or more years of work experience teaching at the college/university level. SALARY: Based on credentials and experience.
