The School of Communication and Culture of Columbia College Chicago seeks applicants for a full-time tenure-track or tenured Faculty position in Communication beginning August 2025.
The faculty member will contribute to the school’s BA in Journalism and Communication and MA in Impact for Social Media, both of which are critically engaged in the work of building civic capacity and strengthening the local/regional information ecosystem.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to building sustainable models of communication that connect people and communities. A background in areas such as information literacy, artificial intelligence, media analysis, civic tech, community media, participatory action research, social media and engagement, and/or data-driven storytelling is highly desirable. Ideal candidates will have critical expertise in digital technologies, multiplatform content production, and emerging community forms.
In addition to expertise in their field, successful candidates must exhibit excellent teaching and scholarly credentials and be passionate about undergraduate and graduate education.
The School of Communication and Culture at Columbia College Chicago offers BAs in Journalism and Communication and Creative Writing, as well as an MA in Media for Social Impact. The School is also home to faculty who teach in the Columbia Core, and all our courses and programs are designed to provide students with skills in creative innovation, communication, media production, and contextual agility.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
The candidate will hold a PhD in communication, journalism, public relations or another related field; or a MA and significant professional experience in community media, media production, civic and/or community agencies or organizations is also acceptable.
